Younger generations were more likely to rely on an alarm: while only a fifth (19%) Baby Boomers established an alarm, 63% of the Z gene and the millennials do the same.

The survey also divided the respondents for early birds and night owls to see how this affects their alarm habits and sleep in general. The two -thirds (67%) of the first birds using an alarm said it is “very effective” to get them out of bed in time, compared to half (52%) of the night owls.

The first birds were more likely to use a “ standard ” or pre -established alarm (70% vs 58%), while night owls were more likely to have a “ annoying ” sound, such as a fire alarm or cars sinking, to awaken them (20% against 12%).

Not surprisingly, night owls were more likely to fight to get out of bed on time (54% vs 17%). Night owls were also more likely to say that their body needs more sleep than they are currently achieving (70% against 55%).

This despite the fact that the two groups have the same amount of sleep, about six and a half hours per night.

“Whether you are a morning person or a nightly owl, quality sleep is not negotiable,” said Laura Scott, a brand marketing director at Avocado Green Mattress. “Your natural sleep rhythm should be supported, not interrupted, by an environment designed for a deep and restorative rest.”
